The closure of the Bultaco factory was not the end of this story. Rumours about the Bultaco factory re-opening, refinancing deals, buy outs and sale of the company persisted on groups and forums well into 2020, then in mid 2021, the BRAIH brand launched the RC1-R.
Also based in Spain, it was immediately obvious that the Braih brand bicycles are the physical and spiritual successor to the Bultaco Brinco.
At first glance, the bikes appear almost identical to the Brinco R, but if you look a little closer, there are some fairly significant differences.
The most significant change is the switch from a throttle activated Crystalite hub motor, to a pedelec Bafang mid drive unit. The power output has also been modified in line with current European regulations, with the bike available in 250w and 1000w varaints.
Brakes have switched from Magura to SRAM, and suspension has switched from DNM to FastAce, and a version is now available with larger wheels.
Another change is the provision of an app from BRAIH to monitor the bikes battery. This was always promised by Bultaco, but never arrived...
There are 4 variants of the BRAIH bike to choose from :
